Clickers! has been meeting for three weeks now, and everyone seems to be enjoying it. Although at the moment we are focused primarily on Knit and Crochet, we would gladly welcome anyone with other handicrafts to join us to teach, learn and share.
We have taught both knitting and crocheting to people of all ages, have come in and shared patterns, techniques, and just plain sat and worked on projects while chatting with others who enjoy old-fashioned needlecrafts.
Some of the projects in process are: scarves, mittens, dishcloths, a prayer shawl, and scrubbies. Several people have crocheted beaded necklaces, and others have made ornaments for the library Christmas Tree. Our ambition this year is to make all the ornaments for the tree.
Due to Thanksgiving, we won't be meeting on the 26th of November. Instead, we will meet again on Dec. 3, 2008. Everyone is welcome to come in and join us. We should have extra yarn and needles available if you don't have your own, so feel free just to drop by and see what we are up to.
November’s Adult Book Discussion Group has been moved to a week later – Thursday, November 20th at 7 PM.Come discuss Khaled Hosseini’s debut novel, The Kite Runner with a lively group of individuals, led by our discussion leader, Karen Jordan.A National Bestseller, this book is sure to provide some great thought-provoking discussion.Come join us in the Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library Community Room!
The Clickers is now meeting on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.If you would like to learn to knit or crochet, would like to help teach someone, or just want to work on your project and socialize, please join us!We would also like to ask if anyone has any knitting needles, crochet hooks, or yarn that you are no longer using to please donate them to the library.Remember, this group is for anyone: boys, girls, young, old, anyone who is interested at all!Don’t be shy!
Santa is coming to town!On December 6th he will be visiting Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.Come have your picture taken with Santa for just $5!Children will receive a cookie, drink, and a small gift!
Make sure your mark your calendars for the first Saturday of each month and be sure to come to the library!At 1 p.m. we have “Super Saturday” which is an hour program for children ages 3 to 12.However, due to Santa visiting on December 6th this year, our Super Saturday program will be the following Saturday, December 13th1 p.m.We will be celebrating National Cookie Day, starting with the history of the Gingerbread Man, followed by the story of “The Gingerbread Man,” and then everyone will get to decorate their own gingerbread man! at
Monday, November 24th is Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library’s next Lit & Latte book discussion group for teens!The book this time is Code Orange by Caroline B. Cooney.This book follows Mitty, a high school goof-off.He is a poor student who is more plugged into his music than his schoolwork.He is only taking Advanced Biology because of he wants to be in the same class as the fair Olivia.He works just hard enough to get by which is why he has not started his research paper on infectious diseases. While looking through some very old medical books he discovers an envelope marked VM. Inside are two nasty, ancient scabs, which he examines and handles. His research leads him to the meaning of VM...variola major or smallpox.He cheerfully sets off to research smallpox for his report but as his knowledge of the disease grows so does the dawning horror that he has handled and inhaled the dust from the scabs. Is the virus still viable after all this time? Has Mitty contracted the disease and is he spreading it around his beloved New York City? Are his symptoms real, or is he imagining things?Stop by the library to pick up a copy of Code Orange and then come join our book discussion at the library at 3:30 p.m.!

Just as a reminder, Wednesday, November 26th the library will be closing at 3 p.m. and will be closed Thursday, November 27th for Thanksgiving.We will be open again Friday, November 28th our regular Friday hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Due to the special hours on Wednesday and being closed Thursday we will not have XBox game time next week.It will be back the following week!
