Summer is Almost Over!

Starting back up in September are some of our favorite children’s programs with our new Children’s Librarian! Wiggle Time will start again Monday, September 14th at 11 a.m. and will run weekly. Story Time with Lesa will start Thursday, September 17th at 11 a.m. and will also be held weekly at the same time. Bring the kids down to the library for some fun social interaction, projects, and some great stories!

Set aside a little bit of time the afternoon of Saturday, September 5th, 2009 to come to Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library’s Program on law enforcement. Trooper Bunyak and Trooper Bowen will be here from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. talking about all things police with a few extras thrown in! Many children and even some young adults tend to perceive police officers in a negative or even scary light. This is an opportunity to come meet one or two in a nice relaxed comfortable library setting. Get to know the people who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe!

Part of our Fall Super Saturdays include Board Games from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. here at the library! Bring your own or participate in a game with one of ours! Teens are especially welcome to take part in this activity, but all ages are welcome! Here are the dates for the Saturdays the games will be available: September 5th, October 10th, and November 7th.

DON’T FORGET TO HELP SUPPORT THE LIBRARY’S CHILDREN’S READING PROGRAM!
Clarion County Libraries desperately need your help. Yes, you! Most individuals are aware of the incredible budget cuts libraries are facing from the state and have already endured from their usual funding sources. Libraries are truly becoming candles burning at both ends. The number of individuals using us continues to climb while the amount of funding we receive to provide our materials and services continues to dwindle.

The libraries of Clarion County are selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a brand new 2007 Cadillac SRX SUV donated by Charitable Deeds! Please help us continue our Summer Reading Programs in 2010 by purchasing raffle tickets from the library! Buy one as a gift, surprise a friend or relative, or just spoil yourself! Even if you don’t win you are still a winner in the eyes of the children who will have the opportunity to participate in Summer Reading! For more information stop in our contact your local library, and if that happens to be Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library our phone number is 473-3800!

Love the Twilight Series? Me too! If you love the books then you are probably aware that the next movie, New Moon, is coming out Friday, November 20th, 2009! Want to join in a lively discussion group about the books and share your thoughts, feelings, etc.? Then sign up to come hang out and talk about these incredible books on Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 at 5 p.m. in the Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library Community Room. Spoiler Alert! This group will be for individuals who have either read the ENTIRE series or don’t mind knowing what happens in all four books! This discussion group will be for all ages so call 473-3800 or stop into the library to register! Depending on how many people sign up we might have to limit the number of attendees so don’t hesitate if you think you might be interested! We are starting to advertise this program now so that people have plenty of time to read all the books before hand! This program is totally free and we’ll have refreshments and I’m sure a rockin’ good time!
