New Club Starting Saturday, October 9th

We will be starting a new club right here at the library. This club is for children 11-15 years of age. The Club is called The Babysitter's Club. This club will get the students ready to babysit and understand what to do in case of emergency and understand the importance of caring for a child. We will be having this class once a month of 2 hours sessions only for 3 weeks. The first session will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 9, 2010. At the end of the 6th hour they will receive a certificate that they completed their full 6 hour trainer. They will be ready to get their first job.

Cookie Daze ~2010~

The annual Bake Sale and Book Sale is under way. Thursday, August 12, 2010- Saturday, August 14, 2010. On those days the library has special hours. The Library will be open 9 am- 5 pm. Please stop and and buy some books. The prices are the following. Paperback books- $.50, Hardback books- $1.00, VHS Tapes- $1.00, Computer Supplies-$2.00. Starting on Monday, August 16, 2010, the library will be back to the normal hours of operation.

KDKA Day


KDKA Day was held, Saturday, July 17, 2010. The Meteorologist, Dennis Bowman, was here to talk about the weather. With the theme being "Make a Splash". Weather is a form of water. He had with him, his tornado machine , his friend Chester Drawers, weather box, and hand radio. When you Dennis on TV and he is visiting schools they always have a cake for Dennis. So that is what we did also. A special thanks goes out to Ginger Rodgers for the beautiful cake that she baked. Here is a picture of Dennis with his cake.

Summer reading party at the sligo pool


On July 31, 2010 we had our Summer reading party at the Sligo Pool. We had a special guest come and talk to the children about water safety. Ranger Danielle and Bobber the water safety dog from the United States Army of Engineering in New Bethlehem, PA. We would like to thank you for coming and going over all the importance of water safety. Also there was a lot of prizes handed out. The top reader of the Read to me group went to Payton Johnston, he is the son of Jason and Candie Johnston of Rimersburg. Who read 102 books. 1st through 3rd grades winner was Carissa Rodgers. She is the daughter of Ronald and Ginger Rodgers of Rimersburg. She read 45 books. The 4th through 6th grade winner was Katie Myers. She is the daughter of Jeff and Michelle Myers of Rimersburg. She read 70 books. This was a wonderful summer reading program this year. I would like to attach a picture of Ranger Danielle and Bobber and the kids from the party.
